The Twenty Year Old Kansas City Native has a positive, clean, young, fresh new age sound that can only be described as…well AY-MusiK.
Brother of AJ Young winner of the “Sing Like John Mayer” contest 2010. Nominated by AOV (Artist On Verge) for the year 2011. AJ Young and AY-MusiK are also X Factor TV show Contestants for 2012. AY and AJ work hand in hand producing original material both with songwriting, and the musical composition of tracks.
Often compared to B.O.B, Asher Roth, Kid Cudi and even shades the lyrical side of a Lupe Fiasco with original songs like “Stick This In Your Pocket” its easy to see AY is going places.
A true Musician at heart AY plays the Keyboard/Singer-Songwriter and Raps.
His biggest influences are bands and music with a message. One republic, Coldplay, Jack Johnson, and john mayer among many other Pop and contempary artists influence and shape AY-MusiK. Writing songs and composing music have always been a main focus for AY even though his genre is Hip-Hop. This creates an amazing sound of live, professional, mainstreem pop music mixed with Hip-Hop that creates a new breed of creative sound that needs to be heard.
Born and Raised in the inner city of Kansas City AY was Homeschooled his entire life with his brothers and sister (AJ Young, Alex Young, and Alana Young) until Sophmore year of high school. After that he was transferred to Lincoln Prep were he became a star athlete. Music was always prevelant in his life but never the main focus until College Freshman year. It became an avenue of release and escape. The trials of living in a crime ridden city, the knowledge of being homeschooled, the battles of assimilation into the public realm, and the life of a high school/college star athlete all translate into great music. Couple all this background with the amazingly talented AJ Young and AY-MusiK is a unique experience.
